If you’re exploring aesthetic treatments, you’ve probably heard of Botox and Radiesse. Both can address signs of aging, but they work differently. The right starting point depends on what you’re noticing and what you’d like to improve.
At Anderson Wellness & Vitality, we begin with a conversation about your goals and an assessment of your facial movement, skin, and support.
What does Botox do?
Botox is a wrinkle relaxer that temporarily reduces activity in targeted muscles. It can soften the appearance of expression lines, including forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet.
Think about the lines that become more noticeable when you raise your eyebrows, frown, or smile. Muscle movement contributes to those lines, which is why a wrinkle relaxer may be considered.
We offer Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport. These are different products, and we’ll discuss which option fits your treatment plan and budget.
What does Radiesse do?
Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite dermal filler and biostimulator. It can provide volume correction while stimulating collagen production over time.
Depending on the product and treatment area, it may be considered for certain facial folds or loss of jawline definition. It addresses different concerns from a wrinkle relaxer.
Radiesse does not relax muscles, and Botox does not replace lost facial volume.
How do you know which one you need?
During your consultation, we look at your face both at rest and in motion.
If your main concern is expression lines, we may discuss wrinkle relaxers. If you’re noticing changes in facial volume or definition, we may explore whether Radiesse or another treatment is appropriate.
Skin texture and uneven-looking tone may call for a separate approach, such as skincare or skin treatments. One treatment won’t necessarily address every concern.
Can Botox and Radiesse be part of the same plan?
For some clients, both may be considered because they address different concerns. That doesn’t mean everyone needs both or that everything needs to happen at one visit.
Your plan should reflect your anatomy, medical history, goals, and comfort level.
What about risks and recovery?
Both treatments have risks. Bruising, swelling, and discomfort can occur. Botox also carries risks such as eyelid drooping and rare serious effects. Radiesse carries a rare risk of blood vessel complications that can cause tissue injury or vision loss.
We’ll review suitability, risks, expected recovery, and aftercare before treatment. Results vary from person to person.
